Dear Lasallians,
I look forward to the downtime we will have as we start our well-deserved summer break. Looking back on the academic year, I am sure a good number of you have overcome difficulties, and we know that these have proved to be essential to your individual progress. I am confident that you will return to school after this break, you will be stronger and more resilient because of them.
During this summer, consider that rest and leisure are necessary if you want to rejuvenate your bodies, brains, and spirits. Do not be afraid to do self-care activities, as these help you better manage stress. I usually charge my mobile phones’ batteries every night, so our bodies need recharging too.
However, summer is not a time to be lazy or become a couch potato. There is just so much to discover that is also great for your well-being. When you feel like it, pick up a new hobby or push yourself outside your comfort zone to acquire fresh experiences and knowledge. It’s important to always prioritize your mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Remember, life is too short to waste it sitting on the couch all day.
Summer is another opportunity to explore the possibilities of serving others, especially those who are poor or on the peripheries, as an expression of your Lasallian values of faith, service, and communion. Take advantage of your extra time and make a positive impact on those in need. These activities will have a positive impact on your life too. And yes, thank you so much for supporting the Lasallian Mission Fund Raffle Draw too. Be assured that you will gain a sense of fulfillment and purpose by giving back to the community.
When you return to school this September, I am also thrilled to inform you that during this school year, from January 2025 to December 2025, we will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Lasallian Mission in Hong Kong! We fondly remember the many Brothers, Lasallian teachers, staff, alumni, and parents who have greatly contributed to the success of our educational mission, to Hong Kong society, and to the world in general. We continue to commit ourselves to teaching minds, touching hearts, and transforming lives. We vow to uphold the values of faith, service, and community in all that we do.
Fraternally yours,
Brother Dennis Magbanua FSC
Head of Hong Kong Lasallian Family
